I got an email this morning announcing a great new feature added to an already awesome tool: Dropbox. Dropbox now has a links feature, which allows users to quickly share files with people who don’t have Dropbox! Just hover over any file until the “Share link” option appears, then click to get a URL you can send out.You can also send links from your computer or phone, which you can read about more here.
This is especially helpful if you need to share a large file that exceeds the capacity of your email service. Just save it to your Dropbox folder, get a link and share! Plus, you can also share entire folders, which used to be a tedious task that required multiple emails or all users to have their own Dropbox accounts.
For those of you unfamiliar with Dropbox, it is essentially a free, easy-to-use cloud storage website. Users can upload their documents, videos, photos and files to their Dropbox accounts, and then access those files from anywhere in the world. This is great for people who need access to documents from multiple computers and locations, and is also a nice secure way to protect your files in case you are clumsy like me and often spill something on your laptop!
