If you haven’t already heard, Google Reader is shutting down July 1st, 2013. I don’t know about you, but Google Reader was my favorite way to read RSS feeds, and a daily part of my routine. I check it constantly and have many followers that use it to read my own blog. I am sad and disappointed about its closing, BUT never fear, I have alternative feed readers to share with you!

Here are the 4 best alternatives to Google Reader I’ve found online:

  1. The Old Reader
Very similar in interface to the older version of Google Reader with a more iOS look and feel
  2. Feedly
A clean, crisp magazine feel to reading RSS feeds with a built-in system for transferring your feeds from Google Reader; requires you to have Google Chrome installed because it works as an extension to the browser
  3. NewsBlur
Also very similar to Google Reader with an iPhone and Android app available so you can read your feeds on the go
  4. NetVibes
One of the more popular web-based news readers; includes a clean interface similar to Google Reader with an iGoogle-type homepage screen

Happy migrating, y’all!

  1. I find MagicCubefeed Store for chrome is magic enough it has a very catchy interface with good graphics. Feedreader 3.14 desktop software has an online version and can be browsed offline too though it doesn’t have a trendy interface. Very nice blog. cheers Fabrizio bartoli
