I have to admit it… I’m obsessed with MangaHigh’s Flower Power game. Why? Because it’s just plain fun!
With the influx of educational games in the past few years, it becomes more and more challenging to find one that manages to hold a student’s attention while allowing them to practice skills. That’s why Flower Power is so exciting to me, because even though it’s technically about math, it’s so much fun that it barely matters.
Here’s how it works:
- The object of the game is to make as much money as possible by growing a variety of flowers.
- Players must use fraction and decimal skills to correctly order blooms on the stem.
- When a stem grows to its full height of seven blooms, it will stop growing, and the player has the opportunity to either harvest it, or wait and allow it to be pollinated by a bee.
- Pollination leads to the spreading of seeds, whereas harvesting leads to selling and money!
Am I trying to trick students into learning? Absolutely, y’all!
