1. Jamaican star Koffee hails Davido

While appearing on 1Xtra on BBC Radio, Jamaican star Koffee described Davido as not only an artist but a musician. In her words, she has loved Davido since the first time she heard his song. According to the young Jamaican star, Davido’s consistency and ability to explore different sounds while still delivering hits made him not just an artist but a musician.

“Ever since hearing him the first time I have loved him. I love how he presents his work. He’s definitely a musician and not just an artist who will just write lyrics or whatever. I love his way of expression and I love that he’s consistent and he experiments and he doesn’t stick to one sound but he keeps the bangers coming. Wherever he goes with his direction you always seem to know it’s a hit.” In the past, Koffee has highlighted her love for Nigerian mainstream music. She has described Burna Boy as one of her favorite artists and even covered his hit song “YE.”

2. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever set for African premiere in Nigeria

A Nigerian Wakanda Forever premiere is happening. According to Nigerian film distribution company, FilmOne Entertainment, the confirmed premiere will be held in Lagos ahead of the film’s anticipated theatrical release. The premiere will be in partnership with the Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF), FilmOne Entertainment, and The Walt Disney Company.

With Shuri (Letitia Wright) rumored to don the Black Panther suit, the anticipated sequel will see Wakanda threatened by newfound enemies. The sequel will see a number of fan-favorite characters return for what’s geared up to be another record-breaking outing.

3. South Africa: Major League DJz hang out with Lewis Hamilton

The amapiano wave has taken over, and even British racing driver Lewis Hamilton can’t help but ride it. Major League DJz shared a video of them hanging out with Hamilton in a studio, seemingly for a listening session. “Hanging out with our bro Lewis Hamilton in studio … connecting the dots,” they captioned the post. Major League DJz are on a mission to take amapiano to the world.

4. Coachella and Goldenvoice are suing Afrochella for trademark infringement

Coachella is heading to court after suing Afrochella for trademark infringement, reports say. The lawsuit was filed last Wednesday in a California federal court, with the famous LA-based festival and its organizer, Goldenvoice, claiming the African music festival is “intentionally trading on the goodwill of [Coachella and Goldenvoice’s] well-known COACHELLA and CHELLA festivals and trademarks by actively promoting music events in the United States and in Ghana using the confusingly similar mark ‘AFROCHELLA’ and by fraudulently attempting to register Plaintiffs’ actual trademarks as their own,” according to the suit.

Afrochella is set to take place on December 28 and 29 at El Wak Stadium in Accra, Ghana, with headliners including Burna Boy and Stonebwoy, as well as Ayra Starr, Fireboy DML, Black Sherif, and more.

5. Pogba returns to partial training following knee injury

Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba has returned to partial training after recovering from a knee injury. Following a lengthy lay-off due to the injury, Pogba was back in training with Juventus on Tuesday. The midfielder returned to the club from Manchester United in July but then suffered the problem in pre-season and was forced to undergo surgery.

The midfielder has yet to feature competitively for Juve since signing in the summer but is now closing in on a return to action. Pogba was initially slated to come back at the end of October and it is thought he could be available for Juventus’ Champions League group match against Benfica in a week’s time.

The player’s agent, Rafaela Pimenta has offered some insight into Pogba’s mindset during his recovery. “He is enthusiastic. Paul’s superpower is to overcome difficulties with incredible strength and great positivity,” she told Tuttosport. “There was a moment, a few weeks ago, when he said to me, ‘Rafaela, that’s enough. I don’t want to think about anything anymore, I will focus on my knee and recovery because I want to play again.’ And so he did.” Koffee BBC Radio
